LDS Church Issues Statement of Regret for Massacre

Oh brothers and sisters, aren't you excited about the recent apology issued by the profit regarding the mountain meadows massacre? This apology disolves the church of any wrong doing and clears brother brigham of any involvement. Now we can finally put this over blown event to bed. Honestly, what is all the fuss about. Lamanites used to kill wagon trains all the time. Everyone blames brother brigham for not stopping this event. Well, my take is that if the Lord didn't allow brother brigham to stop the massacre, it was probably meant to happen. I mean, it is known fact that the members of the wagon train killed Parley Pratt and bragged about being at carthage jail when our beloved Joseph was martered. The fact that so many false stories have come out blaming Mormons for the massacre that it only serves to strengthen my testimony of Joseph Smith.

I admonish you to take the mountain meadows massacre challenge and pray to see if these things are true. Don't believe what you read on the internet. It is all false. Believe only in your own faith and testimony, and you will come to realize that the Lamanites didn't know what they were doing and probably acted under the direction of the Lord.

Wow, Molly. Glad you're back, but this post is really...um....

Just tell me, you are actually saying you think those people deserved to be massacred because some of them killed Parley Pratt and some were at Carthage when Joseph was killed? Is that what you're saying??

Molly...the only thing you got right in your post is the spelling of "profit" of the Church. There isn't one shred of truth in any of the statements you made. Even your church admits that all the statements connecting the emigrants to the killing of Pratt or Joseph Smith are utterly false and were simply made up by the Mormons to justify their evil deed. Good Golly Miss Molly - get out of the rumor mill and get some facts before you tell the world you know nothing about what really happened!

Wow Molly, I've missed you but I think you've missed the boat here. The profit, as usual with all the profits, doesn't want to admit that Bringum Young could have done anything wrong or evil.

As I look around me in Utah today, I am really convinced that both he and the first "profit" were indeed capable of both, or at the very least REALLLY misguided judgement.

I know, I know, I've got a brimstone point...sigh...

Well, I have complete and unwaivering faith in current and past profits. brother brigham did everything in his power to stop the massacre as soon as he found out about it, and yet the Lord still allowed it to happen. I have to assume that under these circumstances, it happened for a reason. For the greater good. Just like Moses was commanded to destroy entire villages. I might suggest that you all stop looking at "facts" and start looking at faith and prayer for answers, as advised by our profits.

Rats. I wanted that brimstone point, I've earned it. Way too forgiving, Molly.

Molly, I'm so glad you are back. Soooo glad. I've missed you as everyone else has as well.

I'm a little confused, though, because I thought that it wasn't actually an apology. I thought that Eyring said that the church expressed profound regret, which isn't the language of an apology. If that is so, then the profit needs to make things clear because its mud at the moment.

paranoidfr33k,

You are so right. I have updated my post title from "Apology" to "Statement of Regret".

Thank You so much for bringing that to my attention. The church has nothing to apologize for since it was never in the wrong.

1 Sunbeam point for you.

lostinUtah,

I think you have it all wrong. It is Sunbeam points that are coveted here, not brimstone points. Since brimstone points are so hard to recover from, I exercise restraint in their distribution.

Molly, you're back!

We should give you a brimstone point for leaving us hanging for two months, but, with a new child, we understand.

Now, as for your blog, are you saying ole' Brigham Young was a Lamanite?

Bring'um Young,

Mavis

Molly, Thank you for the sunbeam point. Do you keep a running total for everyone or are we supposed to keep track for ourselves?

Molly, you can do better than this...

lostinutah,

Your wish is granted.
You now have 1 brimstone point, though I have no idea why anyone would want one.

Molly, please tell me you're joking. If you really feel this way, we need to talk. Your head must be up your back side. :)
